TornioHaparanda city tour by bus

Get to know the historical twin city of TornioHaparanda, the present and the future of the region. During the tour you will see the most beautiful and important places to visit and hear the best bits of 400 years of history. The famous explorers, the important landmarks in the history of science, time under the Russian rule, smuggling, times of war and close co-operation between the cities will be included. The tour can be tailored to groups.

Walking tour in historical Tornio

Step back in time and immerse yourself in the fascinating history of Lapland's oldest city! Founded in 1621, the picturesque city attracted many European travellers throughout the 18th and 19th centuries, earning renown in travel books as the edge of the known world. Beyond Tornio was only vast wilderness without any roads. The vibrant market and trading city played also a significant role in the history of science. The tour will lead you through the oldest part of Tornio, where you will encounter the historical landmarks dating from the 1600s to 1900s. The guide will tell stories about the lives of the rich and the poor, as well as the prospects for their future on those days.

Dive into a world of stories and flavours on a tour of Tornio Brewery!

This unique experience takes you deep into the fascinating world of Lappish craft beer. You will learn about the brewing process, carefully selected ingredients, and explore the brewery's modern equipment and premises. At the same time, you will also get a glimpse into over 150 years of brewing tradition – a history filled with colorful stories and fascinating characters.

The tour continues with a guided beer tasting at Restaurant Paja, where you will discover the rich diversity of beer styles. We taste, compare, and most importantly – enjoy – the colours, aromas, mouthfeel, and aftertaste in a relaxed setting.

Tour of the Grand Hotel Mustaparta

The old high school building in Tornio was gone through an amazing transformation into a classy hotel with a story! The tour will take you to old class rooms and halls. Naturally the tour includes a lot of school stories: teachers, memorable events and forbidden places.
